• Using the maximum constituent concentrations in C-Pit water observed to date rather
<br />than an average. Use of the maximum C-Pit constituent concentrations will likely
<br />overestimate the concentration of constitutents released to the Dakota sandstone; and
<br />• Assuming that none of the solutes are attenuated. Some of the constituents, selenium
<br />and thallium, are known to sorb to aquifer materials during transport. Sorption of
<br />these constituents to clay minerals or iron and manganese oxyhydroxides in the
<br />underlying shales would reduce the concentration of some of the constituents
<br />released to the Dakota sandstone.
