Cattany
Division DireROr
Natural Resource Trustee
M-1990-021, Technical Revision (TR-01) Approval and
The Division of Minerals and Geology staff has reviewed the Technical Revision to the
Reclamation Plan submitted by United for the Virginia Acres Pit. The revision as submitted is to
include a concrete walk path and a soft path around the lake. Through conversation between
DMG staff and United it is understood that these paths are to be constructed and maintained by
the Colorado State Parks Division. The TR is to clarify that the paths may be constructed prior
to the release of the permit and denotes an approximate location for them.
Staff is pleased to inform United that TR-01 is approved and that the Reclamation Plan now
reflects that the mentioned paths maybe constructed prior to a final release request.
As part of the TR, staff noted that the Virginia Acres Pit was due for a reclamation bond update.
The recalculation of the bond reflects only minor earthwork and revegetation tasks based on
current conditions. DMG calculations show the current bond of $30,000.00 is more than
adequate to cover the reclamation liability remaining on site.
If you need additional information, please contact me at the Division of Minerals and Geology,
Grand Junction Field Office, 101 S. 3rd St., Suite 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501,
telephone no. 970.241.1117.
Sincerely,
G.
