The first step of the turning process will be the removal of 0 to 8 inches of topsoil The topsoil wilt be removed <br />using scrapers, toadera and dump trucks and stored In stockpiles near each of the identified turning phases and <br />will be used for the construction of a permanent seeded visual berm adtacent to the highway Once the topsoil <br />has been removed. the overburden removal process will begin As was the case with the topsoil removal, <br />overburden will be elacavated using scrapers, loaders, and dump trucks. Overburden will also be stockpiled <br />near the extraction area rn separate stockpiles from the topsoil. To prevent erosion, the stockpiles will be hydro- <br />seeded within 12 months of establishment at a rate of 15 bulk pounds per acre The seed mix consists of the <br />following <br />Sheep Fescue 10°k Pubescent Wheatgrass 10% <br />Crested Wheatgrass 15% Orchardgrass, Paiute 15% <br />Thrckspx:e Wheatgrass 20°k Winter Wheat 10% <br />Slender Wheatgrass 20°k <br />Rev 08110!03 <br />01!12104 <br />
