In addition, data from the following materials was used to provide background and reference <br />information for ow comments on the proposed King Mountain Sand & Gravel Mine. Copies of these materials <br />maybe obtained upon request. <br />• CDOW Wildlife Resource Information System (WRIS) <br />• Northern Eagle/Southem Routt Greater Sage-Grouse Conservation Plan <br />• CDOW Radio-Collared Greater Sage-Grouse Study: 2003 -Present <br />We would like to note that the Regular (112) Operation Reclamation Permit Application Fomt on the CD provided <br />by DMG for ow review appeared to be missing a portion of the application for King Mountain Sand and Greve] <br />Mine prepazed by yow corporation. Subsequently, we were only able to review the Introduction and Exhibit A. <br />Exhibit B through Exhibit S were not included on the copy of the CD we received, nor were ~,ttachments A-C. If <br />you would like the CDOW to provide you with additional conunents regazding those documents, please forward <br />them soon. <br />CDOW SUMMARY OF PROPOSED PROJECT: <br />T7te existing gravel pit previously operated by Frank Hewes, now called King Mountain Sand & Gravel Mine is <br />located in agricultural rangeland approximately 5 miles west of Toponas, CO. The property is located on the <br />southwest portion of an area locally referred to as Five Pines Mesa. The current pit is permitted for 10 acres, and <br />has been part of an active mining operation. King Mountain Sand & Gravel Mine is requesting thatthe permit <br />acreage expand from this initial 10 acres to 341 acres. It is our understanding that yow client only intends to mine <br />184 of the 341 acres with no more than 67 acres being disturbed at any given time: The proposed mining operation <br />will be to mine construction aggregates, and you are proposing to complete mining in fow separate phases over a _ <br />20-year period. It is also our understanding that all proposed mining will be dry mining that will occw above the <br />water table, dewatering will not be necessary, and the operation will include a processing plant, asphalt plant, and <br />concrete plant.
