King Mountain Sand and Gravel Mine Ecological Resources Assessment
Page 19
importance to the sage grouse. Along with the terrace sideslopes, this is the most visible
portion of the property. Finally, some portion of the gravel deposits in the northwest
portion of the Project site could be excluded from the mine area, in order [o further buffer
the lek site one-quarter mile to the northwest of the Project site. This would provide
additional mitigation above and beyond that requested by CDOW. The result is a
conservation easement roughly 200 acres in size, and a mine area 120-140 acres in size.
8.0 INFORMATION SOURCES
Adams, Rick A. 2003.
