PN: 50663GE <br />November 20, 2006 <br />The data used to generate our recommendations are presented throughout this report and in the <br />attached figures. <br />1.1 Scope of Project <br />We understand that the immediate use of the proposed roadway will be for truck and <br />construction equipment access to the proposed gravel mining operation adjacent to the Florida <br />River. After the mining operations have been completed the gravel pit will be reclaimed and a <br />commercial/business pazk development will be established. <br />Access to the mining operation is proposed from La Plata County Road 309, above and east of <br />the site. The access roadway will cross the sloped areas above and to the east of the Florida <br />River Valley. We understand that retaining structures and possibly Mechanically Stabilized <br />Earth (MSE) fills will be included in the project construction. <br />2.0 GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING STUDY <br />Our services include a geotechnical engineering study of the subsurface soil and water <br />conditions of areas adjacent to the slope for development of aslope stability analysis for the <br />proposed access roadway. <br />2.1 Geotechnical Engineering Study Scope of Service <br />The outline of our study which was delineated in our proposal for services and the order of <br />presentation of the information presented in this report is presented in this report is presented <br />below. <br />Field Study <br />We advanced six (6) test borings at the project within the azeas we understand are <br />planned for construction of the proposed structure. <br />Select driven sleeve and bulk soil samples were obtained from the test borings and <br />returned to our laboratory for testing. <br />Laboratory Study <br />• The laboratory testing and analysis of the samples obtained included; <br />TRAUTNER ~ <br />A DIVISION OF Ti11GONf~i'Sli <br />
