The intent of the plan was to coordinate reclamation
activities at Bulldog in support of tourism and other economic
development opportunities in the Creede area. In that light, the
buildings would be dismantled, removed and foundations buried. The
assay building, which contains toilet facilities would remain for
visitor convenience, rock and literature display, or for use by
local governments. The assay building as originally planned would
be "donated" to the city, county, historical society, state, forest
service or other organization for continued maintenance.
In keeping with the original intent of cooperating with local
governments and organizations, Homestake has been requested that
the Administra*_ic•n building, rather thar, the assay b~.;ilding, remain
following project closure for local use. Homestake is willing to
work with the local organizations and units of government in
working out a lease arrangement for this building. Homestake will
reclaim the assay building rather than leave it for public use.
We believe that maintaining the office building, rather than
the assay building to be constant with the originally approved
reclamation plan for the Bulldog project, and consistent with the
long term post mining land use objectives for the area. No impact
on the final reclamation costs are anticipated as a result of this
change.
HOMESTAKE MINING COMPANY
fi50 CALIFORNIA STREET•SAN FRANCISCO•CA 94i00~2]BB (ai 5)9B~A150
