EXHIBIT E
Reclamation Plan
General Approach
The method of land reclamation has been planned and designed to provide the amenities for
future land use. The planned reclamation program will revegetate the site to be similaz to the
adjacent open space lands. Total acreage of the Amended Permit will be approximately 325.2
acres; of this acreage, 301.7 acres will be subject to some degee of reshaping, leaving 23.5
undisturbed acres. A total of 253 acres will be involved in the reclamation plan for the open pit,
of which approximately 100 acres will be benches on the highwalls, 55 acres will fomt the pit
bottom, 87 acres for the stockpile areas, and 11 acres for the overburden fill azea.
During the extraction process features of the highwalls (future land use backdrop) will be
established that will be similar to the surrounding topography. These backslopes or highwalls
will have a variety of slopes and configurations. The back slopes wil! have an average overall
slope of approximately 45 degrees (measured from the rim to the toe of the highwall). The
benches will have excess overburden soils placed on them to allow establishment of a vegetated
slope. The amount of fill or placement of soils on each bench will vary, but typically will be 35
feet in height from the toe of the bench to the top of the face exposed from the removal of that
bench. The bottom width of the soils placed will be the full 35-foot width of each bench. Soil
exposures will be sloped downward and generally will be at the same 45-degree angle of repose
as the overall highwal] configuration. Benches will be developed on the face of the highwall
during the course of the mining operation. These benches may be spaced at random intervals
and so shaped as to preclude the formation of extended and continuous horizontal lines across
the face of the highwalls. Randomly spaced rock faces may be left or develop from some
settling of the fill in the backfilling of the benches. It is intended that the majority of the
highwall, slopes and benches have the appearance of the surrounding topography. Plans and
specifications for establishing the final slope of these benches and their highwalls are in general
terms to accommodate certain uncontrollable irregularities occurring during extraction of the
rock and the placement of the soil overburden. As the final slope and location of each bench is
established, revegetation will be implemented.
Careful attention will be given to finishing the floor of the quarry, which will be a terrace for
future land use. Shaping of the floor will provide the necessary gradation required for overall
drainage of the azea. Jackson Gulch traverses the floor of the quarry and drainage from this will
be reconstructed to flow across the quarry floor where it will be routed into sump that will be
pumped into the Magic Mountain Reservoir if required.
The accomplishment of this land reclamation method in conjunction with applicable reclamation
standards of the City of Golden, Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board, and the Agreement
with Jefferson County Open Space will establish a beneficial multiple sequential land use.
Specification A~regules
DMG 1!2 Permit AmenJmen!
-/0-
