EXHIBIT I -SOILS INFORMATION
The Salida office of the Natural Resources Conservation Service was contacted to supply
soil, vegetation, and reclamation information. According to the information previously
supplied in 1999, by Mr. John Nelson, There is only one soil series located on the site.
This soil is Pierian gravelly sandy loam (PgD).
The Pierian soil is not classified as hydric or highly erodible. It is very deep and
excessively drained. It is formed in alluvium. Typically, the surface layer is dark brown
gravelly sandy loam 9 inches thick. The substratum is mixed stones, boulders, cobbles,
grave; and sand to a depth of 60 inches or more. The soil is slightly acidic to a depth of 5
inches and neutral below that depth. Permeability is very rapid, and available water
capacity is low. Surface runoff is slow to rapid, and the hazard of erosion of unprotected
soil is slight to high.
The Pierian soil has poor to very poor classification for open land, wetland, and
rangeland wildlife.
On the following page is a soils map provided by the Salida office of the Natural
Resources Conservation Service.
