Two steel or concrete collars shall be welded to or cast against the outlet pipe, one
20 feet (minimum, 30 feet maximum) downstream from the upstream toe and the other 20 feet
(minimum, 30 feet maximum upstream) from the downstream toe.
3.1.3 Stilling Basin
A riprap stilling basin will be placed neaz the downstream toe of the embankment. The basin
serves to dissipate the energy of water flowing from the CSP riser outlet pipe, preventing
excessive erosion which may lead to dam embankment failure. The stilling basin will consist of
a riprap-lined (DSD of 6 inches) plunge pool. The stilling basin will be approximately 250 square
feet with an average depth of 3 feet below ground surface.
3.2 Access Maintenance Road
The 12-foot-wide access maintenance road will stem from the Sediment dam P4 site and will
terminate with a hammer head to the west of the relocated PS dam site. The hammer head will
serve as a turnaround and staging area. The road surface will consist of compacted native
material. Access road layout and typical cut and fill sections aze included on Figures 1, 2, and 5,
Project Layout, Plan and Profile of the Access Maintenance Road, and Typical Access Road
Sections and Details.
G:1101100100.01W1ReportsU(P\Dasign Report.000 5
January 30, 2006
