3 601.01 Description. This work consists of furnishing and placing portlar~d cement concrete in
4 accordance with these specifications and in conformity with the lines, grades and dimensions as
5 shown on the plans or established.

7 This work includes preparing concrete surfaces designated in the Contract and applying an
8 approved colored Structural Concrete Coating to them.

]0 601.02 Classification. The classes of concrete shown in Table 601-1 shall be used when
11 specified in the Contract.

Class B concrete is an air entrained concrete for general use. Class D of H concrete may be
substituted for Class B concrete. Additional requirements for Class B concrete are: Class B
concrete shall have a nominal coarse aggregate size of 37.5 mm (1%z inches) or smaller.
Approved fly ash may be substituted for portland cement up to a maximums of 20 percent Class C
or 30 percent Class F by weight.
Class BZ concrete is concrete for drilled piers. Additional requirements for class BZ concrete
aze: Entrained air is not required unless specified in the Contract. High range water reducers may
be added at the job site to obtain desired slump and retardation. Slump shall be a miniruum of 5
inches and a maximum of 8 inches).
Class BZ caisson concrete shall be made with 19.0 mm ('/< inch) nominal sized coarse aggregate.

or 30 percent Class F by weight.
