[~ <br />1 3.3 Section 400 -Pavements <br />2 3.3.1 Section 420 -Geosynthetics ' <br />3 420.01 Description. This work consists of famishing and installing geotextiles and <br />4 geomembranes for paving, impervious lining, erosion control, drainage, sepazators and landscape <br />5 weed barrier. , <br />6 <br />7 420.02 Materials .Geotextiles and geomembranes shall meet the applicable requirements of , <br />8 subsection 712.08 for the use intended. Geotextiles for erosion control for drainage or for <br />9 separators may be either Class A or Class B if the class is not specified on the plans. <br />10 , <br />11 Asphalt cement binder for the paving geotextile shat] be the same grade as the asphalt cement <br />12 used for Item 403. Paving geotextile shall conform to the requirements of Table 712-6 in <br />13 subsection 712.08. , <br />14 <br />15 420.03 Construction Requirements. Areas on which the geosynthetic; is to be placed shall <br />16 have a uniform slope, be reasonably smooth, free from mounds and windrows, and free of any , <br />17 debris or projections which could damage the material. <br />18 <br />i9 <br />Riprap or cobbles placed on the geosynthetic shall not be dropped from a fine fall greater than 3 , <br />20 feet. The cushion layer or initial layer of riprap may require cazeful placement without free fall to <br />21 avoid geosynthetic damage. Geosynthetics damaged or displaced before or during placement of <br /> <br />22 <br />overlying layers shall be replaced or repaired in accordance with the requirements of this section , <br />23 and to the satisfaction of the Engineer, at the Contractor's expense. <br />24 <br />25 420.04 Paving. The areas to be treated shall be as designated on the lplans. The pavement <br />26 surface shall be swept clean immediately prior to beginning the crack reduction geotextile <br />27 treatment using aself-propelled power broom. <br /> <br />28 , <br />29 The asphalt cement binder shall be applied to the pavement surface at the rate of approximately <br />30 0.25 gallon per square yard. The exact application rate shall be as recommended by the <br /> <br />31 <br />geotextile manufacturer, and at a temperature of 300 to 350 °F. ' <br />32 <br />33 Paving geotextile shall be applied, in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations, ' <br />34 immediately after the application of asphalt cement binder.
