The areas that have yet to be mined and have not had a
subsurface exploration performed on this specific area. However, the area is to the North of the
enclosed Subsurface Exploration Report. Test Borings B-1, B-2, B-3, B-5, B-13, and B-14 are
immediately adjacent to the site. Itt the past, the site soil characteristics have been fairly consistent.
The entire mining operation site is situated on an Alluvial Fan Terrace placed by the Big Thompson
River. An analysis of the boring holes referenced above indicate a estimated the as yet unmined
areas have a clayey sands/sandy clay overburden with thicknesses ranging from 4.5 to 11.0 feet. The
underlying mineable sandy gravel strata thickness ranges from 9.0 to 19.5 feet thick. The site for
pit #10 is expected to have similar soil profiles.
Included as a part of this exhibit is a copy of the Subsurface Exploration Report that encompasses
this area dated Mazch 7, 1997, performed by Landmark Engineering Ltd., with Project No. LOVR-
7B7D-31-712.
RECEIl,/E®
JAN 1 7 2006
Division of Minerals and Geology
