RECEIVED
JAN t 7 2006
EXHIBIT G -Water Information
Division a(Minerals and Geology
The following information pertains to the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology - Loveland
Ready Mix Concrete, Inc.; Larimer Pits: Permit #M - 1974 - 069.
This sand and gravel operation is not expected to directly affect surface or groundwater systems
other than evaporation from the ponds which will be replaced by the applicant. (See Exhibit L).
There aze no known wells within 600 feet of the draw down that have not previously released
Loveland Ready-Mix Concrete Inc when the pits well permit was obtained. No pollution problems
are anticipated.
In order to assure year round augmentation water to replace the evaporative loss from the exposed
water surface ofthe reclaimed ponds, Loveland Ready-Mix Concrete, Inc. plans to line the excavated
mine areas in pit numbers 4 and 5 which will be LRM Storage Pond #1 and pit numbers 6 and 7
which will be LRM Storage Pond #2. The pond lining will be in accordance with Earth Engineering
Consultants, Inc. Pond lining procedure as shown in the Pond Lining Detail. LRM Storage Pond
# 1 has been lined and accepted by the Office of the State Engineer on August 24, 2000.
Loveland Ready-Mix Concrete, Inc. has received a storage decree for a total of 550 acre-feet for both
LRM Storage Pond #1 and #2 in District Water Court Case No. 98CW431. Loveland Ready-Mix
Concrete, Inc. has also applied for a change of use for 120 inches of Barnes Ditch water to be used
for augmentation and/or municipal use, Case No. OOCW 143 and a permanent augmentation plan in
Case No. OOCW 142. Water will be diverted out ofthe Barnes Ditch into LRM Storage Pond #1 and
#2 through existing head-gates. An 18 inch slide gate and an 18 inch transfer pipe will be installed
in the unmined embankment between the two ponds to transfer water from LRM Storage Pond #1
to LRM Storage Pond #2. An 18 inch slide gate and an 18 inch release pipe will be installed from
LRM Storage Pond #2 to the Big Thompson River. Reservoir gauges will be installed in each pond
to measure and regulate the storage and release of water.
Reclaimed ponds on the South side of the Big Thompson River have been augmented under Case
No. W-7412 since 1977. A valid substitute Supply Plan and Well Permit exist for this operation.
Also included as a part of this exhibit is a copy of the letter From the State ofColorado - Board of
Examiners of Water Well Construction and Pump Installation Contractors, dated February 25, 2005,
from Dave McElhaney, P.G. The letter grants a requested variance for the installation of pumping
equipment for the gravel pit.
The production and evaporative depletions from the operation of Larimer Pits are currently
augmented with Barnes Ditch and Colorado Big Thompson water. The depletions and their
augmentation aze covered under a Substitute Water Supply Plan (SWSP) approved May 19, 2005
and valid through February 28, 2006. Included as a part of this exhibit is a copy of a letter from the
State of Colorado, Office of the State Engineer, Division of Water Resources, dated May 19, 2005,
signed by Kevin G. Rein, Water Resource Engineer which outlines the substitute water supply plan
to cover depletions caused by the existing gravel mining operation. The letter from Mr. Rein
approves the extension of the substitute water supply plan. (See paragraph 2 on page 2).
