It has been known to me
that a company is trying to re-open the Gypsum mine.
Years ago when I first moved into the Coaldale area, there would still be a few
blasts here and there. When that dynamite would "go off', my pictures would fly off
the wall, my telephone would literally jump off the wall and my foundation cracked.
My biggest concern here for Coaldale and its residence are their water wells. Being
in the water well business, I am most concerned for water quality and quantity!
Coaldale tends to suffer in both of these areas anyway.
When we went through the drought a few years ago...how depressing it was for our
community. Knowing that all over the state the problems everyone was having was
devastating. Even here in our community it caused arguments upon friends and
ranchers. People were even accused of stealing water. Water is a scary issue here in
Colorado anyway. I'm not understanding why we would want to accept a Gypsum Mine
in our community just for the mere fact of water issues.
Is no one watching our global warming issues, our dry summers with no snow fall,
bigger and bigger populations?
WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!
It is obvious, when you blast the earth crust shifts with it. When most of these
water wells in our area are approximately 80'-200', the seismic waves alone could
possibly destroy domestic, commercial and livestock wells.
Some More Info. For you: Not to far away from here on County Rd. 45 (on the other
side of Hwy. 50) is an earthquake fault. Right there along that fault, it is nearly
Moody Dulling, Inc. • P.O.
