SENT BY~Ph1N5 -26-92 ~ 1336 ~ 30329~40yC0 MiNEb LAND REC'L pit 5
^ A .. C I
~,iWVa`aN:. e.: ~.wLY-rlr'1ARw3iv
r' 6. DATA EVALUATION: CYTOX PROCESS
The Cytox process is designed to reduce the free cyanide levels in the tailings prior
to discharge to the tailings facility. Cytox, a zinc/iron sulphate, reacts witJh the free
cyanide to produce non-reactive, metallo cyanide complexes.
Pre-detox (pre-Cytox) levels of free cyanide from sample .q1 ere be wean 184 and
188 mg/L. Post-detox levels of free cyanide are calculated a be a theoretical
maximum of 32 mg/L in the lower pond/Collection pond tnd ire realistically a
maximum value in the range of 16 mg/L to 22 mg/L.
Accordingly, the Cytox addition is apparently successful in reducir,d the frde cyanide
to B% to 17% of the level in the original tailings slurry.
10
