a =
Documents No. 2 and 3.. Cyanide Detoxification
1. Based upon the current studies and testing, does it appear
that these processes will allow the existing tailings to be
detoxified to the standards established in tk~~e original
permit?
2. How will treatment of the ponds with the hydrogen peroxide
process reduce WAD cyanide levels of the tailings in the
impoundment outside of these surface ponds? How wall testing
of slurry and liquids outside of the surface ponds be
undertaken?
3. Some explanation of the lab QA/QC process and data sheets
in the ASCI Report would be helpful in interpreting the
results.
4. What means of testing, (sample locations, sa ple media,
lab procedure) will be used to ultimately deter~ine if the
tailings have been brought into compliance?
5. What bearing, if any, does the ASCI Report have on the
analytical protocols recommended by Halapaska in Dbcument No.
1?
We appreciate this opportunity to comment on the documents
provided.
If you have any questions on these comments, gleasje feel free
to contact our office. ~~ ~ '~
Res~~tfully
P.G. 5021
f
