The exit gradients calculated from the flow nets are 0.01 and 0.02, at stations 111+00
and 145+00, respectively. These gradients are much less than 1.0, which satisfies
the criteria given by the DMG.
According to information provided by Leonard Rice Consulting Water Engineers,
Inc., the 100-year flood elevation at stations 111+00 and 145+00 are 5369 and 5401,
respectively. These elevations are at or below the water levels in the ditch at these
locations. Consequently, hydraulic gradients will not increase as a result of the 100-
year flood.
In summary, calculated hydraulic gradients for the levee are low, the materials at this
site are nondispersive, well graded, and filter-like. We opine piping is not a
foreseeable concern at the levee. For any additional information or when we can be
of further assistance, please call the undersigned.
Very tr ly yours,
CTL(T OMP N, C.
