I <br /> December 1993 Arkins Park Stone Corporation <br /> Site J Site J is 9 . 4 acres . The North side of the draw is <br /> new quarry area . The South side is an extension of <br /> old quarries which have existed for 50 or more <br /> years . The overburdens have been lev led off into <br /> working decks . Waste stone is incor crated into <br /> the working deck to widen the decks a d to prevent <br /> soil erosion . Where toosoil and tine exist , the,/ <br /> are stockpiled for use in the reclamation process . <br /> The stone is quarried by hand with bars wedges , and <br /> by a forklift loader . When necessary , back seams <br /> are blasted with dynamite . :t is ther processed <br /> according to use . Building stone aid dimension <br /> stone are cut on a hydraulic stone cutter . <br /> Flagstone is sorted as it is quarried . Some waste <br /> stone is sold as rip-rap material , Duarryinq is <br /> done all in one phase . All quarry lives are indef- <br /> inite . When the quarries are reclaimed they will be <br /> returned to mountain pastures or building sites . <br /> Available too-soil and fines will be scattered and <br /> vegetation planted or seeded where possible . <br /> Embankments will be staoiIized and made secure . <br /> Site J has produced about 300 tons of saw blocks <br /> that can oe utilized by the new block saw that we <br /> propose to be established in Site E o Site K . <br /> Approximately 5 acres will be used to quarrying <br /> and the balance for storage and oroce sing area . <br /> This is an ideal site for the quarry As it is out <br /> of sight behinn the ridge to the west of Co .
