described wetland planting on the entire permit site. The map (Exhibit F)
was not consistent with the text in the first amendment. This was rectified
in the second amendment and the current reclamation plan maps (AM-3)
accurately show the final reclamation plan for this site.
• As with the first response to the UD&FCD comment, this activity is
governed through Adams County and not the State of Colorado. The
Floodplain Use Permit (FUP) is still in the development stage, as there
have been many technical issues to overcome. The mining will progress
on the AM-3 area prior to the final issuance of the FUP, as the amendment
area is far from the South Platte River, but the FUP will be obtained in a
timely manner this year.
2. IlI) `'Exhibit CU"-Water Information
As soon thereafter as is practical after approval of this amendment, ASCI will
install the new monitoring well to replace the two existing wells in the location
shown on the mining plan map. This will be accomplished prior to mining on the
AM-3 area. ASCI has notified our neighbors who have alluvial wells that could
be impacted by our mining in the amendment area. These neighbors are to the
east-southeast of our operation and "upgradient" of the groundwater flow. Our
monitoring well will be positioned in such a location that any serious drawdown
of the alluvial groundwater will be evident in monitoring the well prior to any
offsite impacts to our neighbors. ASCI will take appropriate remedial measures
for neighbors should this situation occur.
I am confident that these comments will satisfy any remaining concerns you have raised
in your adequacy review. Please notify me if you have any further questions or concerns.
Otherwise, please issue us an approval letter for this amendment (AM-3) at your earliest
convenience.
Thank you for your attention to this matter and please place this information into the
permit file.
Sincerely,
Rob Laird
Land Manager
cc: file
Dan Hunt
