Memo to Gregg Squire -2- June 4 , 1997
5 . Development within the one percent annual chance floodplain
north of the turnpike and northwest of the Deepe Farm Pit is
reliant on the existing levee to minimize damage during a one
percent annual chance flood. Unless a significant investment is
made in alternative flood control measures, it is important that
the existing levee be bolstered as necessary to gain FEMA
certification, providing a high degree of confidence that the levee
would not fail during a one percent annual chance flood.
6 . In addition to FEMA certification of the levee, other flood
management measures will be required to prevent flood losses in the
developed areas in the one percent annual chance floodplain north
of the Deepe Farm Pit .
CC : Carl Mount
Bruce Humphries
Steve Brown
C:\WP51\DEEPEPIT.MEM
