We have reviewed the submitted materials and offer the following continents.
I. Restoration of the site is critical following such a large land disturbance. It is important
that the proposed plan be implemented as stated. It is vital that the full 6 to 8 inches of
topsoil be placed on (lie land prior to revegetaiion. Less than the proposed 6 to 8 inches
of topsoil will likely result in a sparsly vegetated surface similar to other areas
previously vegetated in this mining area. Reestablishment of a wildlife habitat or
agricultural primary ftrtwe use will be difficult with a sparse stand of grass.
2. Following a visit to the site, it is apparent that there is minimal topsail available for use
on the land. Will soils be imported to the site': Will the revegetated site be irrigated?
What is the proposed ground cover(seed mix) 6 r the restoration?
3. Establishment of an agricultural and wildlife Lahim use will be difficult with a thin layer
of a poor quality soil (rocky, clayey).
It is the recommendation of the Boulder Valley Soil Conservation District Board of Directors
that the Applicant be required to place a I: .oinnun of 6 to 8 inches Of topsoil oil all disturbed
areas within the Dccpc Farm Pit prior to re-seeding the area with an appropriate seed mix.
S i nsyere ly,
ack Wheeler, president
,Boulder Valley SCD
CONSERVATION DEVELOPPAFNT - SELF GOVERNMENT
