I have been with the company for about a year and have met several of you during this time. Some of you met with Tim Buterbaugh, the former Plant Manager at the Speer Pit, in March and April of 2000 when he came around to talk about the original mine application and all but one of those meetings was positive. I am preparing an amendment to our mining plan to be approved through both the County and the State that will add about 12 more acres and about two more years of mining to our approved Special Use through Adams County. We are requesting only that the mining area be expanded to continue to provide our company with sand and gravel from this location for about another two years. We are not increasing our truck hauls or changing the route, we are not increasing our hours of operation, and we are not adding any more equipment to the plant. 1 am enclosing d map that slaws tite Brea LO iite 2itJ1Ui Of il:e eXiSenig t:nt:,9 ihU'e We Wii: be requesting permission from the County for the expansion of the area to be mined. The after-use for the additional area to be mined will be the same as for the current mining area: the entire property will be constructed as awater-storage reservoir with a natural-looking shoreline. I'm sure you all have seen the lakes and reservoirs to the west across the river along 124'h and south of this site on the east side of Brighton Rd. 'that is what this property will look like in about three years. The reservoir/lake will attract waterfowl and will act as "open space" as no residential or commercial development will occur around the perimeter of the reservoir.
