Givision ~1 Minerals and Geology
PO Box 367
Bayfield, CO 81122
Re: Bayfield Pi[ #1, M-1987-038, Revision of Recent Bond Review
Dear Mr. Barnett,
DIVISION OF
MINERALS
GEOLOGY
RECLAMATION
MINING•SAFETY
Bill Owens
Governor
Creg E. Walther
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cottony
Acting Division Director
I have revised the recent bond estimate I sent you, based on our discussion last week. We had agreed that the
reclamation tasks were acceptable, but that the supervisor cost was a bit inflated. I checked the reclamation cost
summary and revised it to reflect a lower supervisor cost. This is more reasonable, given that much of the
reclamation costs are for materials and not for time spent on work performed. I have attached the revised summary
sheet, but no individual task cost sheets.
Using your suggestion of 11 hours of net supervisor time, the new total bond amount of $22,857 is now shown on
the summary sheet. The current hourly charge for supervisory time is 535, and cannot be revised by me in our
software. This new total is a reduction of 521,580, or almost half off your current bond amount of 544,437.
If you desire to request a bond reduction in the amount stated in this letter and the attached revised summary, please
submit the request following the steps in Rules 4.13 and 4.16. If you have questions about the procedure, please '
contact Ms. Suzi Ericksen at our Denver office (see letterhead). If you have questions about these figures, I can be
reached at the Division's Durango field office: 701 Camino del Rio, Room 125. Durango, CO 81301; telephone
247-~ 193 or fax 247-5104.
Thank you for reviewing my earlier cost estimate, and for providing feedback. It helps us make better reclamation
cost estimates.
Sincerely,
l ` ~
t ~
Bob Oswald
Environmental Protection Specialist
Attachment: revised cost estimate summary sheet
Ec(w/out art): Harry Posey, DMG
Suzi Ericksen, DMG
A:\bayYield#1 rev fw/rco
