Additionally, the Division continues to have two concerns over the water in C-Pit. First, <br />CEMEX has not yet identified how it will reduce the pH and selenium levels in the water <br />existing in the pit. Although CEMEX plans to reduce the amount of water in the pit, which will <br />then no longer be in contact with the CKD in the pit, the remaining water will still need have the <br />selenium and pH levels lowered to acceptable levels. Secondly, CEMEX plans to maintain a <br />certain amount of water in C-Pit for processing. At the same time, CEMEX proposes to <br />ultimately completely fill C-Pit with CKD prior to its closure. CEMEX has not identified how it <br />will keep the water, intended for processing, in C-Pit from contacting the ever-increasing <br />amount of CKD in the pit. <br />Cc: Carl B.
