Some of these faults (which are identifiable at the
surface), dip are as much as 45 degrees to the east on the Haydcn Baldy to 32 degrees to
the east on Fleming Mountain. Simply, there is a danger to the structural integrity or our
homes every time that they blast. The contact is not consolidated very strongly, and it is
sitting on such a steep slope, that it may move with the blasting. "Not consolidated" is
the professional term essentially for a pile of dirt and debris- There are faults mapped in.
the valley below and on the hills above us, (USGS map studies). Our properties are sited
near the surface contact of these unconsolidated sediments as well as the fault pattern
mapped for the USGS.
We never would have agreed to buy the property if Ken Chlo (the bomtar, quarry
superintendent, and now .I~olcim's quarry superintendent) had not assured me that the
mine would never re-open.
Sincerely,
alley
Ro ers J.
