(Page 2)
MINE iD # OR PROSPECTING ID #' AA_ i 942]51
INSPECTION DATE: _-3,L221L1/,: ..~~
NJSPECTOROS INiitAtS: -9K,
OSSERJATION
The Division conducted a cursory site visit of the operation in association
with. an SO apclication. The operator Florence Sand and Gravel has submitted
an SO to Florence Sand and Gravel. Li,C. The only change is the LLC part, it
will be the same operator. As part of the Division's policy to evaluate the
fir:anoial warranty for ail Sites during such revisions, the Division triad
to locate the 1,997 conversion application in the imaged documents, but the
application document does not appear to have been imaged. The post mining
land use is listed as Range Land in the DRMS`5 PERMIT SYSYTBM.
The Division-went on site to Look at the file in the presence of Miss Linda
Braco, the office manager. The conver.sic:n application was not located but
the Di<rision did £.ind a letter sent to M.r. Mike Markus, City of Florence,
by Lloyd V.Buck Barnhart. In that letter Mr. Barnhart stated that it was a
copy of the letter that waa sent to DRM9 (DMG at that time) which is the
Master plan for the sit°.
Al e Aores- Landscaping and retaiJ.ing, area to be used to store
decorative rocks.
H) 1o-acres- Truck equipment sales ,parking area.
C) 6.1 acres- Present Mining Ar©a.
D) 11.5 acres, the areas not ro be disturbed until A, B AND C are fully
mined out.
In the letter Mr. Barnhart stated that, ~~The main concern wit:'i Mr, Ohler's
of DMC3 i~, the final reclamation and the fact that he wants the pit floor
and back slopes seeded with grass. 1t is our position that this would be
redundant exercise to plant grass and t_7en use the area for truck and heavy
equipment storage and movement. Tt is zcned Industrial by the City and
should be acceptable use to MLRB, We are proposing to put 6"toll" plate of
sand and gravel on the pit floor far surface and travel area for industrial
uses proposed."
Since there appears to be same confusion as to what the post mining land
use is for the site, the Division requests the operator to provide proof
from the City that the site is zoned Heavy Industrial, also a copy of the
conversion application that was submitted in i9a7,if possible, which
changed the poet mining land use from Range Land to ?heavy Industrial. Once
the Divi..yion receives the requested information, there might be no need to
adjust the financial warranty and the post mining land use will be changed
as approved in the Amendment in 199"7, The Division appreciates in advance,
the help the operator will provide in resolving tka s matter.
ca ~c~ 7gH.J !1NG4T1a Tb7fbAi ATi bT:%T AFG1Z/A7/RT
