November 10, 2003
W. W. Wheeler anc! tassociates, Inc.
UJater Resources Engineers
Mr. Bryce Romig
Climax Molybdenum Company, Climax Mine
Highway 91 / Fremont Pass
Climax, CO 80429
Dear Bryce:
Re: #1051.21 Climax Storke Pipeline
Certification.
The purpose of this letter is to certify that the Climax Storke Pipeline has
been installed and completed in general conformance with the project drawings and
specifications. The completed 24" HDPE pipeline was hydrostatically tested, per
the Plastic Pipe Institute's testing procedure, on November 8, 2003, and passed the
test. This testing was personally witnessed by the undersigned, who also
conducted periodic site observations during the construction period. This project
was completed under the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology's Climax Mine
Reclamation Permit Number M-77-493.
In addition to the hydrostatic testing, a portion of the pipeline at the high-
pressure end of the system had the joints inspected by ultrasonic methods by an
independent testing firm. All of the joints inspected were found to be free of
defects and well made.
Minor adjustments were made to alignment of the pipeline, and location of
the discharge vault, none of which impacted the pipeline integrity. An "as-
constructed" drawing set will be provided to you upon final completion of the
project. Only a few minor items, such as final grading and installation of
miscellaneous culverts, retaining walls and miscellaneous items, remain to be
3700 South Inca Street Englewood, Colorado 80110 (303) 761-4130 fRX (303) 761-480Q
