Walther
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cottony
Acting Division Director
•.
DMG received your letter dated July 8, 2003 requesting an extension of the decision date for
Technical Revision No. 1, due to the illness and hospitalization of Ray Hawkins. Because of these
circumstances, DMG will grant an extension of the decision date to July 31, 2003 for completion
of Technical Revision No. 1, so the adequacy response must be received by July 28, 2003.
Per our previous phone conversations, DMG understands that the change from irrigated pasture to
corrals is no longer desired and that the concrete pads are to be removed. Therefore, DMG
believes the following is required to complete Technical Revision No. 1.
1. Specify what soil amendment is to be used in place of the apple pulp (you indicate is no
longer available) and specify what application rate will be used for the amendment.
2. Specify the seed mix and application rate to be used (if different from current approved
seed mix.
3. Specify how irrigation will be applied to the site or specify that irrigation is no longer part
of the reclamation plah. If irrigation is not to be conducted, the seed mix will need to be
revised to dry land species preferably including shrub seed.
4. Submit a map showing final reclaimed appearance, if applicable. Ensure this map meets all
requirements specified in the adequacy review letter.
If you need additional information, please contact me at the Division of Minerals and Geology,
Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South Third Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501,
telephone no. 970-243-636$.
Sincerely,
~~`~~~~
Steve S.
