Soil: Glenberg-Haverson fine sandy loam <br />Map Unit: Gh <br />General Description: This soil is deep, well-drained and formed on flood plains in loamy <br />alluvium. The permeability is moderately rapid and the available water capacity is moderate. The <br />soil is moderately alkaline with a deep rooting zone. The soil is mainly used for grazing, hay <br />production, and irrigated crops. <br />Related Soils: Las Animas soils make up about 10% of the acreage. <br />Range Site: Sandy Bottomland <br />General Characteristics - In excellent condition this soil can produce about 2,000 <br />lbs./acre per year in good years and about 1,800 pounds in most years. About 85% of <br />the growth is goad for cattle utilization. <br />Major Plant Species -Potential community: 20% switchgrass, 10% sand bluestem, <br />10% prairie sandreed, 10% blue grama, 10% needleandthread, 10% Canada wildrye, <br />5% slender wheatgrass, 5% side-oats grama, 5% tall dropseed, 5% sand dropseed, 5% <br />sedges, and 5 % saltgrass. <br />With heavy grazing switchgrass, sand bluestem, and needleandthread decline or <br />disappeaz leaving blue grama, sand dropseed, and saltgrass.
