RECLAMATION PLAN
Wildlife Habitat: Revegetation of this area should include a variety of
plantings similar to the other areas. In more upland areas the dryland pasture planting
will be applied, More lowland areas will be planted with emergent wetland species,
shrubs, or trees as is appropriate for each area. Because it cannot be predicted ahead of
time exactly what areas will be appropriate for each type, the revegetation here needs to
be left open ended and applied as required by the final array of environments produced at
the end of the operation. High diversity planting will be sought in the final planting
arrangement.
Buildings and Structures
The only "permanent" buildings on the site are those associated with the batch
plant facility. These structures are primarily for the batch plant operation rather than
the mining operation. Naturally, there is some overlap in use, but these buildings are not
considered to be part of the mining operation. This facility is regulated as an industrial
site by Pueblo County and is expected to remain in this use after all the mining and
reclamation is completed at the mining operation. Therefore, these buildings, depending
on the future life of the batch plant, may remain or even be passed on to a new owner.
Structures that are specifically connected with the mining operation are not
permanent and will be removed at the end of the operation. In the event structures used
in the mining are desired to be left by a subsequent owner, permission will be sought
from the Board to leave them.
Signs and Markers
Permit notification signs will be placed and maintained at all entrance points to
the operation. Other signs will be posted along the permit boundary as has been done at
the Pueblo West Pit.
The boundary of the permit and/or affected land will be marked and the markers
maintained.
Other Considerations
Weed Control: Noxious and other competitive weeds will be controlled on a site
by site basis. Inspection by persons familiar with the various weed species will be done at
least once a year. Annual weeds will primarily be controlled by mowing, Noxious
Pueblo ast Pit Amendment Exhibit Page 14
