I ombined water flows through a cattail <br />and bi rush filtering swamp. <br />e. After sufficient mining is done, multi-stage <br />settling ponds may be eliminated and replaced <br />with a large in-pit settling pond (an Optional <br />Plan !see Figure 2). <br />a. In-pit settling pond will be confined to <br />land l;hat will eventually be backfilled. <br />b. In-pit settling pond is confined within high <br />berm composed of overburden. <br />c. Seepage from pond to pit floor results in <br />nearly, clean water. <br />d. seepage water mixes with groundwater <br />infloi>~. <br />e. All water is pumped to treatment facilities <br />(swamp and lake filtering). <br />f. Process water still taken from lake. <br />3. Fi~tal treatment lake may need periodic <br />cleaneut, if sediment reduces capacity. It may <br />also ~e enlarged to the north. <br />4.
