Seeding, Fertilizer, and Mulching Cost Estimates, Site Wide, Life of Mine
Native Seed Mix Cost @ 20#/ acre broadcast seeding rate ($17.40/#)
$350/acre x 62 acres seeded over life of mine = $21700
Mulch applied at 2000#/acre over 62 acres, $100/acre material, $150/acre labor
$250 x 62 acres = $15550
Fertilizer (if necessary) Material and Labor cost estimate: $200/ac Labor & Matl
$200 x 62 acres = $12400
Subtotal, Life of Mine Seed, Mulch, Fertilizer Cost Estimate $49650
Highwall Bench Reclamation/Final Configuration Cost Estimate
Life of Mine Highwall work will cover approximately 34 acres including ditches, topsoil
stockpile areas, mining benches, and rock faces. Final slope configuration will be
determined after fast cut of the upper mining bench, but will ultimately range from
between 75° and 45° depending upon rock competency evaluation. At any rate, the mine
benches will be graded @1% to highwail side and graded to drain to the southern ditch
system which diverts all snow melt and rain event to the lower pit area. All mine benches
will have a 3' high minimum berm left app. 8' from highwall to catch debris from the
highwall face and a small berm 1' high at the outside edge of the flat bench to minimize
run-off over the highwall face. Highwall bench reclamation plans include removal of
loose or unstable rock as needed, capping flat bench tops with 1" of topsoil, grading,
berm and ditch construction, seeding, and mulching (costs covered under above estimate)
A gross estimate of highwall reclamation cost in addition to those already estimated
under topsoil placement and seeding, fertilizer, and mulching estimates is $1000/acre,
based on estimates of excavator and bulldozer hours necessary to complete stabilization
and ditch work. 34 acres @ $1000/acre $34000
Subtotal, Life of Mine Cost Estimate for Highwall Reclamation Machine Work
................................................................................................... $34000
Other Direct Costs
One Acre Staging Area (900' from CR228&USHighway 511) ........................ $2000
One acre road cnt backfdling, topsoiling, and seeding ................................ $3500
(outside of proposed affected land boundary)
Mobilization/Demobilization ............................................................... $5000
26
