EXHIBIT H- WILDLIFE INFORMATION
This high altitude site affords year round habitat for lazge ungulates, including elk and
deer, with less use by mountain sheep. The alpine grasses and forties provide for summer
and fall browse for the species above, and also provides habitat for pica, marmot, and a
number of species of ground squirrel and other rodents. Timbered azeas may provide
cover for lazge game animals yeaz-round, and aspen stands reflect elk browse markings.
Wildlife use of the Taylor Gulch azea appeazs to be limited to migratory type of browse
due to lack of cover over most of the basin and human accessibility (County Road 228)
which crosses the basin slopes within the mining zone and above the mining area on the
western flank of Taylor Basin. Mining is not expected to impact wildlife movement or
use of the site relative to its present extent of browse and cover. A statement from
Colorado Division of Wildlife is submitted with this exhibit to provide for review of the
proposed amendment and its expected impacts on wildlife. Colorado Mazble, lnc., is
requesting a field season for mining at the site from May 1 through November 1.
19
