surrounding wells will not be affected because the bottom of the pit will be restored to a
vegetated meadow after the pit is closed and a significant buffer of native material will be
left in place azound the edges of the pit. In addition, ground water flow in the region is
from the east, and the proposed pit will not alter this flow direction. ERO recommends
that the depth to ground water be monitored regularly during pit expansion to ensure that
the bottom of the pit stays above the water table. If well owners can demonstrate that the
quality and quantity of water in their wells has been impacted by the pit expansion, ERO
recommends that Thompson Properties take measures to mitigate the impact.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. ERO appreciates the
opportunity to assist you.
Sincerely,
~~~~
Craig Sovka Michael Galloway
Geologist Senior Hydrogeologist
FRO
Rasaucet
Carporofion
