Pit # M-1980-193 and
the proposed Asphalt and/or Concrete Batch Plant by Rocky Mountain Asphalt, Inc., to be
located approximately three miles south of Highway 24 on SoapWeed Road, extending east to
Hahn Road.
These issues and concerns need to be addressed as follows and they aze checked off as they
pertain to this site:
X Dust and Pollution (Health Concerns)
X Noise
X Traffic safety/line of travel
X Impairment of gravel road due to trucks traveling SoapWeed
X Commercial wells (adverse affects to local residents water
supply /Town of Calhan's well on Hahn Road)
X Quality of life
X The size of the proposed operation (Total proposed permitted
area, 295 acres)
X Location in respect to residential azeas
X Life of mine (30 yeazs?)
X Demise of wildlife inhabitants
X Times of operation
X Rezoning
X Archeological deposits (Indian artifacts)
X Lights
X Smell of an asphalUConcrete plant
X Petroleum spills and contaminates
X Close proximity to the town of Calhan
Additional Comments or Information:
Our property is located west of the proposed expansion. linine the eastern wall of the valley that
SoapWeed travels. Given our location, we would be (property, animals and human) extremely
susceptible to any and all run off from the proposed expansion. This would include extraneous
dirt, sand, gravel, lye (from any concrete work), asphalt, diesel fuel and other petroleum
contaminants that result from both the production of asphalt and the truckine of asphalt. It is a
known fact that any haulers of asphalt line their beds with diesel fuel to prevent the asphalt from
transmission fluid from the multitude of vehicles that would be traveling in and out of the
1 of3
