Box 548
Telluride, CO 81435
;~
RECEIVED OCT D 3 1001
October 2, 2002
Telluride, Colorado
81435 Re: Pathfinder Gravel Pit (Foley #91043)
970-728-6153 Dear Mr. Rozycki,
Fax970-728-6050 On October 1, 2002 I made a site inspection of the
access to Pathfinder Gravel Pit. This inspection was
done to see if part of the access to the drive was
within the parameters as set forth in Sectiori 5-502DD
Driveways, San Miguel County Land Use Code as Amended
through September 5, 2001 (driveway standards). A
hand held clinometer was utilized to approximate the
grades of the current gravel access road. It is my
experience that the hand held clinometer is good to
plus or minus 1~ on slopes less than 40$. I also
used a hand tape to check the width of the existing
entrance. The attached exhibit depicts the
approximate location of the existing roadways within
the Pathfinder property. The shaded area (study
area) is the location that I inspected on October l5C
and the area that was compared to the driveway
standards.
No slope was observed to be greater than 3~ in the
study area. A measurement of 9~ was .taken on what
appeared to be the greatest slope on the roadway
labeled "access to highway" on the attached exhibit.
The width of the gravel surface of the study area was
24 feet. This width seemed to be utilized as a 20
foot drive surface with a 2 foot shoulder on either
side. No exact horizontal curve data was obtained
but I did observe a tractor trailer semi-truck drive
the roadway and it did not have any trouble
negotiating the horizontal curves. Also, no
noticeable damage was done due to vertical movement
of the roadway when the truck drove over the study
area.
%~\Jobs\JOBS1991\91043e\doc\MikeR10-02-02.doc
