Box 299 -Loveland, Colorado 80539-0299
December 6, 2002
Colorado Division of Minerals & Geology
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 '~
Denver, CO 80203 ~`
ATTN: Erica Crosby
Dear Ms. Crosby:
Tn accordance with Rule 3.1.5(9) Loveland Ready Mix Concrete, Inc. hereby notifies you that we
are accepting inert structural fill materials generated outside the approved permit area. This
material is being backfilled into a previously mined pit located in tbe NW '/. of Section 15, TSN,
R69W, West of Wilson Avenue and North of the Big Thompson River. Prior to the date we
started accepting outside 5ll materials, this area was used for disposal of onsite waste materials
consisting of waste concrete that had cured for at least six weeks and non-marketable fine
materials.
The total volume of the pit area to be filled is approximately 160,000 c.y. We estimate that 70
percent of this volume has been generated from onsite material and 30 percent from offsite
material. Backfilling of this area with onsite waste began in about 1987 and at the request of
some of our customers we began accepting offsite inert waste materials about 1997. We
amicipate that this area will be bacld'illed and reclaimed by the end of 2007. Effective November
I5, 2002 we quit accepting any offsite waste except for clean fill dirt.
The material is being placed in the pit area in layers with the waste concrete and concrete and
waste rock rubble being placed in the bottom 3 to 4 feet with a dozer that tracks over the material
for some compaction. This lower layer is being covered with 3 to 4 feet of clean dirt, clay, and
silty material that is being dozed over the bottom layer and tracktompacted. The final layer will
be 6" to 12" of topsoil that will be graded level and seeded with grass. The final elevation will
approximate the original ground elevation prior to mining.
The final land use for this area will be hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing, so some minimal
settlement will have no impact on the final use.
Very truly yours,
LOVELAND READY MIX CONCRETE, INC.
George Steven Faucher
Vice President
