Grade remaining shoreline with slopes no steeper 8 horizontal to 1 vertical distance. These shallow
water areas allow for establishment of aquatic vegetation and invertebrates important for waterfowl and
other wildlife. Diverse vegetative types and wetland areas have long term benefits to wildlife, public
viewing and increased aesthetic value.
In areas surrounding the ponds or if no pond is planned, the Division of Wildlife recommends
landscaping with native species. Trees and shrubs are an important component and should be considered
when revegetating the area. For additional information on native plantings contact the Colorado Native
Plant Society. The Division of Wildlife also recommends a noxious weed management plan be adopted
for this project.
Thank you for this opportunity to comment on this proposal. If you have any questions, feel free to
contact District Wildlife Manager Stephanie Schuler at 970-247-0855.
Sincerely,
`~uxt '
/j~
Patt Dorsey
Area Wildlife Manager, Durango
xc: Bredehoft, Spezze, File
