City of Fort Collins
November27, 2001
Community Planning and Environmental Services ~~ „~~,,,,~,,, "
Natural Resources Department
Carl Mount
State of Colorado
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Mining Permit No. M1977184
Dear Mr. Mount,
RECEIVED
DEC 1 1 2001
Givision of Minerals and Geology
Recently this permit was transferred from Western Mobile Northern, Inc. to the Ci[y of Fort Collins
(City). The City is requesting that the above referenced mining permit be closed. The City owns some
of the property that is covered by Mining Permit No. M1977184. We are satisfied with the reclamation
that has been completed and request that the Division of Minerals and Geology release the reclamation
in "as is condition." The City will not hold the State of Colorado or [he Division of Minerals and
Geology responsible or liable for any further reclamation. We also understand the Division of Minerals
and Geology can require no more reclamation once the permit is terminated.
The City in partnership with the US Army Corps of Engineers has plans for further more extensive
reclamation of the portion of land owned by the City. (See attached conceptual plan.) I have attached
letters from the other two property owners that state their support for the release and closing the permit.
Both owners have plans to develop their land in the future as office parks, at which time their sites will
be completely landscaped.
Please call if you have any questions or concerns.
Respectfully,
/~1~~-~d~---
Mark Sears
Natural Areas Program Manager
~F 8-I5-o2
281 North College Avenue • P.O.
