UPLAND GRAVEL
EXHIBIT D
MINING PLAN
Processing will be through a crusher and/or power screen. 2000 to 6000 gallons of
water will be used daily during crushing and will be supplied by Ute Water or pumped
from the storage pond.
Portable sanitary facilities shall be maintained on the site as needed for operations.
Air Pollution Control Permit No. 01 ME0871 F & Crusher Permit No. 02PO0085 are
currently in place.
8.) PROJECTED NEED:
The grading of the gravel in these deposits from the samples taken by Lincoln Devore
indicated that 100% of the sample passed a 4" screen and only 43% was smaller than
'/z' which is ideal for pit run road base material. It is anticipated that 100% of the
material excavated will be used and removed with no waste or over burden storage
needed. Crushing of the material for finer grades of road base will be necessary. It is
estimated that 15,000 to 30,000 ton of cobbles and pit run material and 15,000 to
40,000 ton of crushed material will be needed annually to meet the demand of the
community.
No incidental products are expected to be extracted by this operation.
9.) FUTURE LAND USE:
No toxic materials or refuse are known to exist on the site.
Various amounts of gravel not in sufficient quantity to be mined are scattered and mixed
with the overlying and underlying soils of the surrounding area. Mineable amounts of
gravel lie to the Northwest of the proposed gravel extraction site, but are currently
occupied by an existing residence. The land occupied by the site is proposed to
become part of Lots 7, 8 and 9 of Upland Estates AFT Subdivision.
The hydro logic balance will be improved as mining progresses because of the flattening
of the existing steep slopes to the maximum of 4-6 percent to match the Mancos Shale
contact line.
70.) TRANSPORTATION:
Tandem axle dump trucks with approximately 16 ton capacity are being used for
transportation to market. Private pick-ups and tractor-trailer trucks are also being used.
Hours of operation are 7 A.M. to 6 P.M., 6 days a week (Mon. thru Sat.).
Traffic generated by the operation is estimated to average 16 loads per day to remove
70,000 ton annually. A maximum of 50 loads per day is estimated during peak demand.
-4-
