Canany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
1~ `~
Re: Carnation Mine, Permit M-1977-416, Submittal of Proposed Final Reclamation Map (Following
TR-Ol). ~
Dear Mr. Wetz,
This office is in receipt of the above-named reclamation map for the Carnation Mine. As part of our
review of its adequacy comparison was made to the pre-reclamation condition depicted on the mining
map received by this office on December 1, 2003, for Technical Revision TR-O1. The TR-Ol was
approved, though it was agreed that an updated reclamation map was still needed and would be submitted.
The new map fulfills that need; the two maps are considered to be the updated Exhibit E (Mining and
Reclamation Maps), pursuant to Rule 6.3.5.
Findings of our review of this reclamation map are summarized as follows:
1. All necessary items aze included and adequately depicted as reclaimed features.
2. The map scale is appropriate for depicting all necessazy details.
3. Inclusion of the pre-reclamation spot elevations and post-reclamation topography allows adequate
earthwork estimation for bond recalculation.
This new map meets all standazds of the applicable portions of Rules 6.2 and 6.3, and is a valuable
addition to the permit file. The map represents the present reclamation scenario, but its approval does not
constitute any requirement to begin reclamation. Please be reminded that the reclamation plan or
reclamation map maybe revised if needed.
With this new map in-hand, I will begin to recalculate the bond for this permit and send you the
preliminary figures for your review. These will be based on the present site condition, reclamation plan
details (under the recent technical revision), and current equipment and labor rates.
As always, this office appreciates the diligence and effort in preparing this high quality map product. If
you have questions, I may be reached at the Division's Durango field office: 701 Camino del Rio, Room
125, Durango, CO 81301; telephone 970-247-5193 or fax 970-247-5104.
Office of Office of Colorado
