=; Appl~ga~e
ter'®u~, ~w~.
May 27, 2003
Mr. Jeff Deatherage; PE
- State Engineers Office
1313 Sherman Street, Room 818.
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Renewal of Substitute Supply Plan for the Three Bells Pit, M-79-191
Dear Mr.. Deatherage,
On befialf of Lafarge West, Ina (Lafarge), Applegate Group, Inc. requests a renewal of the
substitute supply plan for the Three Bells Pit, M-79-191. Enclosed is a check to the Division of
Water Resources for $217 for the renewal of this plan. This plan renewal is being submitted as
part of a combined plan with the adjacent Kyger Property, M-99-088.
The plan was most recently renewed by the SEO in a letter dated May 30, 2001. There have been
no changes at the site. The property is currently not being mined; and the only consumptive use
is evaporation-from a groundwater lake. ,
Lafarge excavated a recharge pit on an umnined portion of the Three Bells Property and will
rechazge 5.0 Box Elder Ditch shares during the 2003 season. Due to the lagged historic
consumptive use credit, leases from the City of Greeley and the City of Fort Collins will make
replacements-for additional depletions. This combination of sources will make all replacements
for the depletions in the combined substitutesupplypian.
UPDATED CONSUMPTIVE USE
The only consumptive use at the Three Bells Pit is evaporation from 24.4 acres of exposed
groundwater. The total evaporative consumptive-use for the site remains at 61.5 acre-feet per
year (Table.No. 1):
BOX ELDER DITCH
Lafarge owns 8.5 shares in the Box Elder Ditch and will use 5.0 shazes in this combined plan. .
The historic consumptive use analysis for the 5.0 shares was completed in support ofan
augmentation plan and change of use for another Lafarge site in Case No. 02CW205:
Three Bells Property = 5.5 of 6.0 Box Elder Ditch Shares '
The Three Bells Property is comprised approximately 344.3 acres of farmland. Lafarge presently
owns the 5.5 of the 6.0 shares historically utilized for irrigation of this property.
