Please find attached a leaer from'W-W. Wheeler summarizing their
review of this project and maps indicating the proposed location of the crossings- This
request is in addition to the request made two years ago October 2000) for a temporary
logging crossing. These new crossings are necessary to support our ongoing topsoil
salvage program. The relocation of several topsoil stockpiles will be necessary next
summer to avoid inundation. Henderson plans to relocate these stockpiles to the north
Area 21 per our approved reclamation plan.
Please note that these crossings will not be sized for the probable maximum snowmelc-
The size culvert to accommodate these flows, near the north abutment of #1 Dam, will'
not fit in the existing cans] without a major widening of the associated access road.
Therefore, Henderson proposes to install te7nporary arch culvert crossings that could be
removed quickly if an extreme snowmelt runoff is anticipated. Time permitting,
Henderson will begin constructing the new crossings and haul roads this fall. However,
we do not anticipate they will be completed until next spring. Henderson is also planning
on developing the south Area 21 topsoil stockpile location in the near future to facilitate
the relocation of topsoil from the southeast corner of the tsiling pond. Henderson
assumes the previous permission granted by the Division, for a temporary logging
crossing on the upper pottion of the imerceptor canal, would still be valid pending
notification to the Division of the proposed location of the crossings).
