Lorene Holtzclaw Kern, born
<br />26, 1917 to Felix "Fig" and Rasa "Rose"
<br />Iw in her Grandmother's living room in
<br />Ile, Missouri, died Friday, March 19, 2004.

<br />vere inseparable. She learned to sing and
<br />d a young age by her second grade teacher
<br />cousin Alice Paulsen. Even recently her
<br />f a great appreciation for music. In the early
<br />she was sponsored to compete as Miss
<br />Ile in the Miss Missouri Pageant. While
<br />~ at the overall factory, she would walk
<br />docks to catch a ride home after work.
<br />fcr her ride outside of Katz Drug Store, Lo-
<br />=t Earl Kern. They were later married by
<br />riper on December 3, 1939. In 1946, they
<br />from Kansas City to Englewood, Colorado.
<br />worked with Earl at the National Shirt Com-
<br />Iti! Earl opened Kern's Mens Wear & West-
<br />ar across town in Derby, now called Com-
<br />ity and Lorene did all the alterations.

<br />Whether it was boys from the service who
<br />a place to stay or youth groups that need-
<br />rce to run, she would welcome them all with
<br />'ms. For close to twenty years, Ead and Lo-

<br />nake fudge for every salesman and custom-
<br />market of aver 3000. Lorene was preceded
<br />t by her parents and her husband Earl
<br />nd is survived by her son, Pat Kern and his
<br />ndy; grandchildren, Matt and Shelly; great
<br />rn, Marcus; and brother, Don Holtzclaw of
<br />io Springs, Colorado. A memorial service
<br />field on Saturday, March 27, 2004 at 2:00
<br />the First Baptist Church of Brighton, Colo-
<br />lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may
<br />e to any Shriner's Hospital or to the minis-
