(Denison) plans to install three vent holes. The purpose is to provide <br />adequate ventilation to existing and operating underground uranium mines. Ventilation for the Sunday <br />Mine Complex must be established as mine workings advance into areas of undeveloped ore, The Plan of <br />Operations Amendment (Amendment), dated September 17, 2007, proposes construction, operation, and <br />reclamation of the proposed vent holes. <br />The Plan Amendment for the addition of three vent holes for the Sunday Mines, San Miguel County, <br />Colorado, has been assigned BLM casefile number COC 53227 (07-2A). Approval is subject to the <br />mitigations identified in the Environmental Assessment (CO 800-2007-115) and incorporated into the <br />Plan as Conditions of Approval (COAs}. The purpose of these COAs are to prevent unnecessary or <br />undue degradation. Denison Mines must conduct operations as described in the Amendment and in <br />accordance with the following conditions of approval. <br />A Weed Management Plan was completed in June, 2007 for the mine site to control non- <br />native invasive species. Requirements include: <br />a. manually cleaning all vehicles and equipment of mud, dirt, and plant parts, prior to <br />entering the project area. <br />b. Areas of proposed disturbance will be treated for noxious weeds at least one week prior <br />to actual activities to create such disturbance. Pesticides may be used in the control of <br />noxious weeds. Denison will obtain an approved Pesticide Use Proposal from the BLM, <br />prior to application of any pesticides. <br />c. Annual reports, summarizing the status of the noxious weed program and of pesticide <br />usage, will be submitted to the BLM. The annual report will document the status of <br />existing infestations and new noxious weed infestations that have been found, mitigation <br />measures that have been implemented. Pesticide Application Records will be submitted <br />annually, subsequent to pesticide applications. <br />These COAs are needed reduce the densities of noxious weeds below current levels. <br />2.
