established in the pit area. Most of these wells will be
mined out during the life of the project. The monitoring
frequency is presented on Table G.1-3 of the approved permit.
The water levels in monitor wells will be measured on
a quarterly schedule.
Samples of groundwater will also be collected for
laboratory analysis quarterly. The parameters included in each
analysis are defined in Table G.1-2 of the approved permit.
An extensive analysis of monitoring results will be done
annually. Less extensive analyses will be performed more
frequently. The monitoring program will be re-evaluated
annually to ensure that the monitoring program and sampling
frequency are adequate.
Monitoring wells located in the vicinity of tihe tailings
disposal area will be monitored on a monthly basis for both
water levels and water quality.
2.1.2 Surface Water
Surface water monitoring locations are shown on Figure
G-1 of the amendment application. There are six surface water
monitoring locations for the San Luis Project. Two of the
surface water monitoring site have not measured any flow in
the approximately two years that they have been in place. The
surface water monitoring frequency is presented on Table G.1-
3 of the approved permit.
Flow at the surface water monitoring locations is measured
daily during spring runoff and weekly during base flow conditions.
Water quality samples are collected monthly during runoff
conditions and quarterly the rest of the year.
