The first reason is accurate, we do use sodium cyanide in the
extractive process. The second and third reasons are inaccLrate. At the
San Luis Mine, extensive and on-going testing has given no indication of
acid mine drainage and we are not extracting a high sulfide ore. Section
D.3.3.2 of the approved permit states that after many tests completed on
the waste rock "the combined material leachate is neutral. to slightly
alkaline with no sulfide reactivity resulting in acid product:_on". Section
D.6.2.2 of the approved permit states that after many tests completed on
the tailings material "the tests showed low potential for acid production
with almost no acid neutralization potential" also "humid.-ty cell data
shows that the tailings material has no potential for acid generation".
Since operation, BMRI has conducted quarterly humidity cell tests of the
tailings materials and these tests have continually shown =hat there is
little to no potential of acid generation.
BMRI does not disagree with the designation
with reasons 2 and 3. We acknowledge that it
designated as a DMO, we just believe that the
this particular mine site.
Si rely,/
Sall ayes
Envi nmental Engineer
cc: Bruce Humphries
Anne Baldrige
Dan Robertson
Alana Scott
of DMO status, but dioagree
only takes one reason to be
focus should be on cyanide at
A SUBS/DIARI' OF RA77h6' MOUMAIN GUI COMPANY
P.O.
