~ ~'~._ ~ EkEb~f
' ROCRY NOONT8IN
MBTHRI9L5 & 95t'HdLT ttdC,
1910 Rand Avenue
Colorado Springs, CO 80906
Exhibit E-Reclamation Plan
1. Land Use: The purpose of this reclamation plan is to return the property to rangeland.
Reclamation will be completed concutrendy with the mining plan. Land will be reclaimed as
soon as it is no longer needed Eox plant sites, ponds, stockpIles or current mining activities.
2. Reclamation Performance Standazds: The mining and reclamation plan have been designed to
initiate reclamation dE the land as soon as it is no longer needed and will continue through the
life of the mine. Generally, an azea that is sufficient, to sustain 6 months of mining activities. will
remain open at any time. Topsoil and overburden that has been stripped from current mining
areas will be placed on the aeeas to be reclaimed.
Mine slopes will generaIly be excavated to a 1:1 slope. Excess material will then be deposited at
[he toe of the slope to obtain a 2:1 slope ox better. The mine floor that is not required for
current mining will be reclaimed with available overburden and topsoil. A berm will be provided
at floor edges [o prevent water runoff and erosion of reclaimed areas.
To the extent practical, the final zedamadon will be coordinated with the most desirable season
for planting. In this azea, spring seeding from eazly March through the end of May has produced
the most desirable results. Seeding will be done as soon as practical with consideration being
given to soil conditions and weather patterns. Soil in the mind area will be scarified and
harrowed prior to seeding. Traffic will be diverted away from the area to be seeded.
Fertilization will be included in the seeding process. Application rates willbe determided at the
time of seeding.
Seed mixture and application rates will be deteunined by the local soil conservation district.
Seeding will be done by the use of a seed drill whenever possible. When drilling is not possible,
seed will be hand broadcast at the rates determined by dxe soil conservation district.
3. This reclamation plan is a.continuai and ongoing part of die mine. Best management pLxcdces
will be used at all times to protect the safety, health, and environment of everyone involved at
the site.
These items will be used in conjunction with the current muilng and reclamation plans. ~ We do
not foresee many changes from the current mining at this facility. We will always continue to use
the best mining practices that are available to us.
Phone 473-31 D0 • Faz 473-3709
