~ ' ~1~4 ~ F
BOCSY MD4NTAIN
t88TE&ISLS & ASPADLT 1NC.
.1910 Rand Avenue
Colorado Springs, CO 80906
Exhibit D-Mining Plan
~"Xhj ~~
This site is an existing mine that has been used by the El Paso County Depaztment of Transportation
for several years. Access roads have already been established to the site. Stdppings and overburden
piles have been established as well. Mining practices will continue as follows:
1. Mining Methods
A. Strip and stodcpIle overburden from working area using self-loading scrapers
and/or a loader and dozer. We will utilize a portion of the overburden material as a
berm azound the site.
B. Setup plant consisting of screening equipment, washing equipment,. scales, and
office unit.
C. Excavate gravel from wotlcittg face and tram to the processing plant using loaders
and trucks.
D. Strip additional areas to be mined, placing topsoil and overburden on completed
. areas of site.
E. In the faII of each year, prepare areas for seeding where mining is completed (level,
scazify for seedbed, fertilize & seed asset forth in the reclamation plan).
F. Continue alternate mining and reclamation through the process of awning.
2. Water Diversions and Impoundments: There aze no water diversions planned for this site.
Water impoundments will be constructed in order to store water used to wash sand and gravel
that is extracted $om.the site. These impoundments will be used to.contain stotmwater that
comes in contact with the site. We will also use berms around the mining area to ensure that
stonnwater does not leave the site.
3. The Size of Atea to be Worked at Any Time: This site will have a maximum disturbance of
50 acres a[ any-given time. This disturbance will be kept down to whatever is necessary for the
plant site, ponds, stockpiles, and up to 6 months of concurrent muting and reclamation to take
place.
4. Timetable fox the Operation: The life of this operation will depend on the demands of the
construction industry in the El Paso County area. Production at.the mine is expected to be as
high as 4000 tons/day at peak demand periods. Although demands maybe high at times, it is
hard to predict what the actual life of the mine will be due to continual changes in the
constmction industry. The life of the none may exceed 30 years.
5. .Nature of the Gravel Deposit: The deposit is mostly sand with varying amounts of small
sized rock scattered throughout. Mining will be accomplished by removing a ridge drat runs
north andsouth throughout the property:
The mining at this facility should continue the same way that it has been done in the past. The only
changes will be the addition of some washing equipment and water impoundments to be used in dze
washing process.
473-3100 • Faz 473-3108
